28 February 2024: Ambassador Pedro “Junie” Laylo, Jr. attended the 10th Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference held from 28 to 29 March 2024 in the Red Sea port city of Eilat.

Considered Israel's leading event in the field of sustainable energy, the conference provided a platform to discuss policy, innovation, and solutions to foster a carbon-free economy and promote off-grid clean energy. It was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, clean tech startups, industry experts, and NGOs.

Ambassador Laylo was accompanied by Third Secretary Teri Adolf Bautista, Post’s Economic Section Head, and Commercial Counsellor Vichael Angelo Roaring, Head of Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) - Tel Aviv.

The Embassy took the opportunity to visit facilities and meet with representatives of Eilat-based firms and startups offering solutions for the Philippines’ solar power, logistics, agritech, port operations, and aquaculture sectors.

The conference was held in Eilat, in the desert region of Arava, an area which leads Israel in green energy usage and is home to various clean tech startups, particularly solar power.

The Embassy will continue to engage partners in the region's renewable energy ecosystem to support the Philippines' shift towards renewable energy and ongoing push to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050. END
