16 April 2018 – On 13 April 2018, Philippine Ambassador to the State of Israel Neal Imperial met with Mr. Gideon Golbar, General Manager of Eilat Port Company, Ltd., together with Mr. Dani Lahav, President of the Chamber of Commerce in Eilat, and Mr. Moshe Krispin, legal counsel of the chamber.

Eilat port connects Israel to countries in the Far East, South Africa and Australia. 60% of Israel’s vehicle imports from Asia enter through Eilat port.

The management of Eilat port is aiming to make it the first solar-powered port in the world.

“A partnership with the Philippines can make the country Israel’s bridge to the rest of the Far East,” said Mr. Golbar.

“A partnership with Eilat Port would complement the technical know-how of Filipinos and introduce technological innovations that would ensure efficient and professional operations of Philippine ports,” according to Ambassador Neal Imperial.

Eilat, the resort capital of Israel, is also a model in its endeavor to educate residents and visitors on marine conservation to preserve the city’s main employment sector, which is the tourism industry.-END-
