3 September 2021, Haifa – The Philippine Embassy in Israel’s Consulate-On-Wheels (COW) returned to Haifa for its second outreach to the area in 2021. The COW team set up their stations at the St. Joseph the Worker Parish to offer a full range of frontline services to the Filipino community in Haifa, the second largest in Israel.

The Embassy team processed 37 passport renewals, 23 notarial and civil registry documents, 86 OWWA membership applications, 30 requests for SSS services, and distributed financial assistance to 3 Filipinos who had recovered from Covid. Welfare Officer Dina Ponciano held consultations with 3 Filipinos on their OWWA benefits and Labor Attaché Rodolfo Gabasan met with 2 Filipinos seeking guidance for the recovery of their placement fees.

Forty-four Filipinos registered as overseas voters during the outreach.

On the sidelines of the outreach, the Embassy conducted a townhall meeting with Filipino community leaders in Haifa, during which it shared updates on issues that community leaders had raised during the previous consular outreach in April.

Aside from its COW outreaches, the Embassy has also begun conducting mobile voter registration outreaches throughout Israel to ensure that Filipinos are given ample opportunity to register themselves as overseas voters ahead of the elections in May 2022. The voter registration period ends on 30 September 2021.
